Hi! I’m Kayla Nguyen, a filmmaker pursuing a degree in Film, Television, & Digital Media at UCLA. This site holds the people I’ve met, places I’ve been, stories from the communities around me, and anything I’m currently loving! Each project is a little piece of what I’m interested in and how I see the world. Together, they reflect the life that has influenced me and the way I create.

My passion for media actually started with fan edits (which you can watch here!) Taking my favorite characters and films and finding new ways to see them through editing and visual design taught me how much perspective can change the way something feels. That same curiosity is what fascinates me about documentary and non-fiction filmmaking.

Talking to people and learning about lives and experiences outside my own gives me the chance to find those different perspectives in the real world. To me, the most beautiful thing about creating is discovering the stories hiding in plain sight and using them to better understand the society around us.
